Maria Bike attends the AM2R 2024 Conference and reinforces its commitment to sustainable mobility.
On 10 and 11 December, the Port of Leixões Cruise Terminal hosted the 1st Technical-Scientific Conference of the Mobilising Agenda for Business Innovation in the Two-Wheeler Sector (AM2R). The event brought together industry leaders, academics, researchers and professionals to debate the future of sustainable mobility, with special emphasis on technological innovation and environmental sustainability.
Maria Bike, an integral part of the AM2R consortium, was present, reinforcing its role in developing innovative solutions for more sustainable mobility.
Conference highlights
Under the theme ‘The future of sustainable mobility, from Portugal to the world’, the event addressed key issues such as:
Innovation in materials and production processes.
Electrification and the role of batteries in the two-wheel sector.
Sustainability throughout the value chain.
Digitalisation and logistics as efficiency factors.
The participation of experts such as Pedro Araújo (Polisport), Ana Reis (INEGI) and Manuel Marsilio (CONEBI) brought valuable reflections on the sector's challenges and opportunities.
The impact of Maria Bike
During the event, Maria Bike highlighted its electric solutions, designed to promote smooth and accessible mobility, in line with the values of sustainability and innovation. The presentation of the projects developed within the AM2R consortium demonstrated the brand's commitment to contributing to a 100 per cent Portuguese bicycle, reducing dependence on international suppliers.
Portugal as a European leader
The conference reinforced Portugal's position as the leader in bicycle production in the European Union, representing 18.6 per cent of total EU production in 2023. This achievement is the result of collaboration between industry and academia, a model that Maria Bike and the MHS Group are proud to be part of.
The future of mobility
With an execution rate of 60 per cent, Agenda AM2R is expected to generate more than 1,100 jobs and a post-project sales volume of 336 million euros, with a strong focus on exports. Maria Bike continues to contribute to the advancement of this sector, consolidating its role as a benchmark in sustainable electric mobility.
